After the summer holidays, Matteo Mauro Studio has been in preparation of the upcoming art fair season, opening with ArtVerona’s 20th edition on the 9th of October until the 11th of October. The studio is pleased to participate this year, with the fair being under the new artistic direction of Laura Lamonea. The curatorial research this year goes beyond the separation of modern and contemporary art, moreover creating a dialogue between the two. In resonance with the theme, Mauro’s beautiful paintings from the Inscriptions on Canvas series will be exhibited, demonstrating a contemporary approach and expansion of traditional techniques, while staying true to the time-honoured material that is oil paint.
Alongside the Inscriptions on Canvas, the artist’s innovative Bronze on Canvas series will make an appearance, showcasing Mauro’s admiration towards raw materials. The pieces are an experience that allows viewers to confront the sculptures as if they are witnessing a moment frozen in time, where the metal appears to be both solid and liquid at the same time. What makes the artworks so special and revolutionary is the unique conjunction between the traditional “canvas” and the finely crafted, sculptural aspect of the work. In company with the series, Steel on Canvas will be making its debut at ArtVerona. The piece illustrates Mauro’s commitment to extending his artistic research, exploring the properties of steel, thus continuately seeking innovation through reconstruction and alteration.
Represented by Prometeo Gallery, Matteo Mauro Studio is pleased to be present at the fair within the carefully curated context highlighting the distinctive language of the artist. The gallery’s booth can be found at Pad. 12 | Booth H4. The studio invites you to experience these stunning works in person and get to know Mauro’s practice.
