Matteo Mauro Studio presented a Raw Inscriptions installation during the most recent Lambrate Art Night, bulletin nr.44. Visitors experienced a unique grouping of the artist’s newest artworks from the Raw Inscriptions series, spotlighted in a monumental wall display.
Displayed side by side, the artworks reveal the depth and coherence of Mauro’s research. A visual language constructed through the persistence of the line, continuously evolving yet unmistakably consistent. Each Raw Inscription forms part of a broader ecosystem, expanding this vocabulary over time through each iteration. With over 60 artworks from the series, Raw Inscriptions marks a pivotal phase in Mauro’s artistic trajectory.
The series continues investigating mark making as both gesture and structure, where each incision carries the memory of past traditions merged with contemporary tools. The installation highlighted a growing series that feels controlled and organic, demonstrating both the range and evolution of Mauro’s language. Realised on aluminium surfaces, the artworks possess a quiet softness that draws the viewer inward. From a distance, they appear abstract, but up close they evoke something almost recognisable. This tension is central to the series, allowing each artwork to exist both as an autonomous piece and as a fragment of a larger family.
Each artwork represents a further development in Mauro’s evolving language, shaped by the dialogue between technology, code, and traditional engraving techniques. Each artwork surface invites prolonged observation, encouraging viewers to lose themselves within their depth. While seemingly abstract, the artworks have an exceptional softness to them, feeling familiar yet distant, embedded in the expressive structures of human perception.
