Matteo Mauro Studio announces a double solo exhibition with renowned artist Zehra Doğan, titled “Closed Eyes Can See.” Opening on November 14, 2024, from 6 pm to 9 pm at Prometeo Gallery (Via Privata G. Ventura 6, 20134 Milano), the exhibition will be open to the public from November 15, 2024, until January 14, 2025. Visitors can view the exhibition from Tuesday to Saturday, between 2 pm and 7 pm.

Closed Eyes Can See unites the impactful artistic expressions of Matteo Mauro and Zehra Doğan, each known for their thought-provoking themes and deeply personal narratives. Doğan, celebrated for her politically charged works addressing resistance, identity, and culture, connecting with Mauro, whose sculptures resonate with themes of existential inquiry, resilience, and transformation. Accompanying the exhibition, esteemed critics Domenico De Chirico and Rischa Paterlini will offer their insights, inviting viewers to engage more deeply with the layered meanings within each piece.

For this exhibition, Matteo Mauro presents seven powerful sculptures that explore identity, existential philosophy, and the complexities of human experience. From the imposing HE in black patina, examining iconography and presence, to Dolce Metà, a representation of harmonious duality, each piece invites reflection on complex emotions and states of being. Works such as Atom for the War and The Trouble of Being Born confront themes of conflict, peace, and life’s inherent challenges, while The Demiurge and Bronze on Canvas showcase Mauro’s innovative merging of materials and forms, challenging traditional artistic boundaries. Together, these sculptures form a cohesive narrative that anchors Mauro’s artistic vision within the exhibition’s wider themes.
