Matteo Mauro will be presented at Artissima 2025, Italy’s leading contemporary art fair since its founding in 1994. Represented by Prometeo Gallery in the Main Section of the fair, at Booths Orange 2 and Red 1, Mauro will showcase two works from his acclaimed Inscriptions on Canvas series, Towards a Blue Mannerism and Baroque on Jupiter, alongside the unveiling of a new museum-scale sculpture titled A Spectre is Haunting Europe, part of his ongoing God is Dead series.
This year’s edition of Artissima returns to Turin from October 31 to November 2, 2025, with an exclusive VIP preview on October 30. The fair continues its tradition of celebrating avant-garde artistic research and experimentation, offering a platform where contemporary art and critical discourse meet.
Mauro’s participation and unveiling of his new sculpture at the international level reinforces his ongoing collaboration with Prometeo Gallery. The gallery celebrates its 20th year anniversary with one of the major stands of 100 square metres, a majestic exhibition of their top artists. At Artissima 2024, the inscriptions on canvas series were a star in the show. Mauro wants to continue surprising art enthusiasts this year by revealing his newest marble sculpture to date, A Spectre is Haunting Europe. Realised through black marble the artwork shapeshifts between that of a figure and a baroque three dimensional interpretation, casting a shadow on it’s counterpart.
Mauro’s Inscriptions on canvas artworks are born from persistent research into engraving and digital aesthetics, the series represents a synthesis between the tactile and the computational. The two canvas artworks presented at Artissima 2025, Towards a Blue Mannerism and Baroque on Jupiter, embody the series creative tension. Exploring the harmony and theatricality of the Mannerist palette through a interpretation of blue tonality, while the other artwork expands Mauro’s dialogue with Baroque exuberance imagined through a poetic abstraction.
Visitors to Artissima 2025 will have the opportunity to experience the intricate beauty and conceptual depth of Mauro’s canvases, while also seeing the strength and power his marble sculptures evoke.
Presented by Prometeo Gallery at booth Orange 2 and Red 1, Mauro’s presence at Artissima 2025 reaffirms his position among artists who blur the boundaries between media, technique, and temporality, revealing how the act of inscription, whether digital or manual, remains central to human expression.
