On May 7th, Matteo Mauro Studio welcomed spring with the opening of Alessandro d’Aquila’s beautiful exhibition “Nel Buio” at Galleria Monopoli, curated by Matteo Mauro. During the exhibition, our studio also invited the public to have a peek inside, to immerse themselves in the artistic atmosphere of Mauro’s works. Visitors also had an opportunity to take part of Mauro’s ongoing video project “I only eat flowers”, which will be continuing on our following event.

May 21st, our doors are open once again, hosting the “Before Summer, After Spring” event. Welcoming the public to take part of the studio life, and participating in the “I only eat flowers” project. The idea of creating an army of people who eat flowers began last year, after the success of Mauro’s art performance back in 2020, when he ate various types of flowers for the duration of 3 hours, exploring the relationship we have with flowers. The concept of this interactive project is to explore each person’s unique way to approach something as gentle as a flower, when given the instruction to eat it, as it’s definitely not something we stumble upon on a daily basis. We record each “flower person” (as we like to call them), and publish them on our TikTok account, which serves as an archive to the project. Currently, we have hundreds of flower people, hoping to bring in even more during the next event. Before Summer, After Spring is an event celebrating our army of people who only eat flowers through building a colourful community.

In addition, there will be four openings on the night of May 21st, in the neighbouring galleries to the studio:

Boccanera Gallery – exhibiting Sebastiano Sofia

Francesca Minini – exhibiting Ambra Castagnetti

Galleria Monopoli – exhibiting Giovanni Frangi

Prometeo Gallery – exhibiting Francesca Perrone

We can’t wait to see you at Matteo Mauro Studio on the 21st of May, at 19:00; Via Ventura 6, Lambrate, Milan. (Psst, entrance is from Via Massimiano)
