Matteo Mauro Studio arrives back at Arte Fiera Bologna 2025, one of Italy’s most prestigious contemporary art fairs, presented by Prometeo Gallery by Ida Pisani. Following the recent success at Artissima, where Mauro‘s work garnered significant attention, Arte Fiera proves to be another showcase for Mauro.
Prometeo Gallery, located in Main section – P.25 – Booth B36, presents unique artworks from Mauro‘s Inscriptions on Canvas series, a collection that explores the purity of the line as both medium and subject. This series embraces a visual language where lines resist transformation, existing in their own entirety rather than evolving into recognizable forms. Mauro‘s oil paintings maintain an ongoing dialogue with hyperrealism, yet challenge realism’s conventions by abstaining from representational imagery. These lines move with a subtle, unrestrained fluidity, depicting free flowing and formless yet guided by deeply expressive, instinctive structures.
This year at Arte Fiera, Prometeo Gallery will showcase four artworks from this series:
Reminiscing Other Times of Life (90 x 120 x 4.5 cm, oil on canvas, 2021)
The Secret of Her Eyes (50 x 50 x 4.5 cm, oil on canvas, 2019)
And Never Do I Weep and Never Do I Laugh (45 x 45 x 4.5 cm, oil on canvas, 2021)
Created Without Purpose, May Be Used by Man for His Own Purposes (45 x 45 x 4.5 cm, oil on canvas, 2021)
These paintings exemplify Mauro‘s commitment to an artistic language where lines exist in a state of absolute freedom, unburdened by the need to form objects or figures. Each piece is an invitation to immerse oneself in the expressive energy of pure gesture, where movement and emotion are conveyed through the delicate balance of spontaneity and control.
